Here are the pictures. Im a bit delayed since im doing 12 hour shifts… Damn virus.
Heres the chipping around the screw. I need to be careful with screw drivers.
I polished the whole gun so I don’t have alot of tarnishing but The first time I took it out, it was black tarnish every where. It might be silver…
Tis is jsut a small tad at the tip.
It’s hard to tell from photos, but those little black spots near the muzzle look like minor pitting that did not get polished out when the polishing/plating was done. It looks like the rifle was polished to me. The only hitch in that theory is that it doesn’t show signs of rusting in moisture, but turns black instead. Silver turns black but I can’t see how the side covers could be plated on the outside but not on the inside. Does a magnet stick to both sides, or just the blued side of the receiver? Nickel is not ferromagnetic so a magnet does not attract nickel, but I don’t know what nickel plating on iron is like.
The magnet will stick to both sides since there is steel under it. The plating would have to be 1/8″ thick to affect the how a magnet sticks. Its just like your refrigerator magnet holding a note, you try to stack 10 or 20 sheets of paper and now the magnet starts to loose its grip.
The only answer I see is the gun was plated with the brush plating process so you can plate one side and was plated with silver since that is the only plating that turns black. Its possible the spot on the barrel are silver plated pits in the metal and they remain black since your not polishing them out.

I like il go with that its actually silver and not nickel like I was told. I did some research on silver and it turns out it tarnishes from moisture and sweat which is accurate. It tarnishes super easily in humid weather and when I touch it.
And the dots at the end of the barrel arent pits, I looked at them with a loupe. They are just unpolished parts I missed. I need to keep it well oiled in the safe.
If I take a screwdriver larger then the screw holes it chips the plating. I always take a little smaller. Better stay safe.
Glad I got some clarification.
