Hello guys,
It was hard to read the SN in the photos on the gin library site so I called the store and after 2 days finally called the store manager to get a reply call. The SN is 39295 which is an early 1895 DOM. But I could faintly make out the Type 3 barrel address on the left side of the barrel and it is located to close to the rear sight for a correct carbine barrel. So then I really started looking at the photos. The hammer should have the “widow’s peak” indentation on the top edge and the ring staple is not aligned correctly on the left side of the receiver. Checking with Cody the rifle was originally built as an octagon barrel sporting rifle in 38 WCF. I think they are going to have a tough time getting the $2,999.99 they are asking. At least it isn’t $3000!! http://www.cabelas.com/product/Winchester-Model-1892-SRC-44-WCF/1925781.uts?Ntk=GunLibrary&searchPath=%2Fcatalog%2Fsearch.cmd%3Fform_state%3DsearchForm%26N%3D0%26Ntk%3DGunLibrary%26Ntt%3D4411095%26x%3D14%26y%3D12&Ntt=4411095

Also, the wood has been replaced. The leading edge of the forearm has the distinct shape of the 1894 forearm, not the 1892. They are interchangeable but the front taper is different.
(After several unsuccessful attempt to upload photo of correct forearm I give up.)
