Just found this picture of my 1927 vintage M94 SRC in the scarce 38-55. Bought this carbine in 2007 from a Cabelas here in Utah. The only outstanding features of this carbine are the gumwood stocks and the nice condition, marred only by the beginnings of flaking. It’s a keeper. # 1004027.   Big Larry

Really nice SRC, Larry.  Can’t believe you have already had it for 10 years now.

Still have every Winchester I ever bought, except the 1st one I got in high school which my father sold when I was away at college.  Longest is since 1972.

On the 1894 , 38-55 SRC, is the general feeling a button mag helps or hurts value ?

First off – Big Larry – that is one beautiful carbine.  You have 100% of my approval.  The .38-55 is my favorite caliber in the ’94 SRC.

As to the question Bill poses, my sense is that the general feeling is a button magazine hurts rather than helps the value of a SRC.  However, that feeling does not resonate with me.  A button mag is a special order feature and we know special order features are rarer on a carbine vs. a rifle.  Also, I love both the aesthetic appearance as well as the handling aspect of a button mag. carbine.  Personally, I would pay more for a button mag. version than less – but that is because I buy what I like. Personal opinion only: button magazine acceptable (but not preferred) in rifle, looks bad in carbine.
