Copy that Clarence! My kind of gun with honest wear. And 1st year. Guaranteed to go for more than I can afford.
Yes, that’s the problem, if one was seriously interested. I’d like it almost as much if it were a post-’99 gun, which would deflate the cost considerably.

I like that 1892, I appreciate honest wear and I seem to be be attracted to first & second year production guns. I think I even recognize the wear pattern, quite possible it spent time in the scabbard of one of those saddle blanket seat covers that was often encountered before most pickups had split or bucket seats and center consoles.

I drove a ’57 F-100 in H.S., so I’m surprised I never bought one those covers, though I remember seeing the ads in gun mags very well; quite a good idea. What I did put in that truck as soon as I got it was a back-window gun rack, though I never used it to carry a gun! (Because I never carried a gun except in a soft case, which wouldn’t fit the rack.) But it was my “statement”!

My F100 was a 65 and as a city boy with a badge in my pocket the scabbard generally carried an Ithaca riot gun. (Nowadays a Winchester 1300 rides in a soft case in an undisclosed location.) A levergun generally rode best with the lever up and the top of the butt would sometimes bump against the seat track or some other object under the seat. I’m thinking that’s what happened to the top left of the butt stock. My pickup had a gun rack in the back window too but it was generally used as a hat rack unless I was hunting.
