I HAVE TWO PRE-64’S I BOUGHT 25 YEARS AGO NIB. I HAVE HAD THEM IN MY SAFE BUT NOW WANT TO PUT THEM BACK IN THE ORIGINAL BOX. ANYONE HAVE A PHOTO OF HOW THE RIFLE WENT IN THE BOX? I HAVE TWO PIECES OF WOOD AND SEVERAL PIECES OF CARDBOARD THAT SOMEHOW MUST GO TOGETHER WITH THE RIFLE WITH THE BOLD OUT OF THE GUN.
Yep, the specific rifle model would help. On some models there were 2 pieces of wood that were placed at each end of the box to reduce the “end batter” during shipping. On a bolt action rifle, the bolt was usually removed and packaged separately in a sectioned-off area. Some of the bolt action rifles had a flat piece of cardboard the same width as the box which was placed in the bottom of the box.
If you tell us what model, what vintage/era and show us a picture of what you have we can better help you reassemble it. Also, a picture of the box end label would help.
