The Cody Firearms Museum can produce a Factory Letter that will state the configuration of your gun when shipped from the factory. 1904?? Did you enter your serial number in the When Was Your Gun Made section in Resources tab above? Other sources are not correct.
Others will be able to tell you what steel was used and how to post pictures. If you are worried about the steel because you want to shoot the gun, don’t be. Any currently available Factory ammo is safe to shoot IF your gun is Mechanically safe.
