Won the bid on this gun on 3/2/18 and just got it on 22nd.   1942 standard carbine, S/N 1326562.  It was a Morphy auction in PA but I bid online through Invaluable.  It was advertised as new in box with no signs of wear or use at all and that’s what it appears like to me.  There are a very few tiny scratches but I have seen as many on new guns from the store.

Anyone know how common these finds are?

Winning bid was $950 but tack on auction premium, insurance, packing and shipping, etc.  At under $1300 to my door I think it was a great buy.

Anyway, some photos of my treasure.

I would think that these carbines, new in the box are quite hard to find.  You have a nice early model 94 with the last of the long nose forend.  Sweet.  No way you could improve on the condition.  How’s the box?

Box is fair I guess.  Not sure how to judge.  Has S/N and label is OK.  End of box is missing I think.

In my collection, I have # 1327444,  PR 4-1-1942. It is a 32 Special, and just about mint. I bought it online in 2012 for $850 shipped. At only 882 numbers apart, we may have twins, but I don’t have a box. Box adds to the value somewhat too. Thanks for sharing your new treasure.  Big Larry

I think that was a great buy. I’m surprised a $950 bid won it. Congratulations.

I think the box is very nice.  Great companion piece for the carbine.  Just think what was happening around the world in 1942.  War in every corner of the globe.  At that time, my dad was aboard a submarine in the South Pacific.

Big Larry, do you shoot yours?  I have decided not to on mine.  I have a couple other shooters so I think I’ll preserve this one for now.  Post a pic or two some time.  PS..Are you a fan of the 32 or was it the gun you were after?  Thanks for the comment!

Not going to shoot mine. Too nice. Don’t shoot yours either. I have a couple other M1894’s to shoot. A Friend gave me 5 boxes of factory ammo, but I don’t enjoy shooting my center fire rifles any longer, I am content shooting my 22’s. Nice rifle. Keep it and give it to your kids or Grandkids.
