OfflineSure… July 13th, 1939 (s/n 16800) was the last Long Tang. On September 21st, 1939 s/n 16801 was manufactured as the first “Short” tang. There was a 2+ month production hiatus while Winchester retooled for the Short tang variation of the Model 71.
