OfflineGood morning all.
Today I am studying a 1955 Mod. 70 Featherweight.
From the limited pictures that I have been provided, the gun seems to be factory correct in all configuration aspects.
However, looking at the underside of the stock, there is a curious inlay at the bottom of the grip.

Nothing else on the firearm appears to deviate from what I would expect to find on a 1955 FWT.
Owner claims the wood has original finish and the inlay was “there when I bought it”.
I am not disputing either of these claims, but I have failed to find another example of the Winchester Custom Shop preforming similar work from that era.
What say you experts?
Is this inlay probable aftermarket work? or is it factory custom shop?
