I was at a gun show today and had a chance to buy a post-war model 64 deluxe carbine. 32 special. All correct. Approximately 95% overall. Super grade sling swivels. Buckhorn rear barrel sight.
The guy was asking $2000 but I imagine I could’ve got it for $1800-$1900.
On my drive home I started thinking I should’ve grabbed it.

If it’s there tomorrow you’re a very lucky man. If the dealer is needing gas money to get home buy a lotto ticket after you score that 64!

I figured. I was working a deal on another gun and didn’t have my head screwed on strait. I’ll see what I can do tomorrow.

“Well? We’re waiting…”

Bummer. Next time a nice one comes along maybe you’ll listen to that little voice. Or, maybe you’ll see a rifle you REALLY like in the next week or so and you’ll be glad you didn’t squander your lunch money on this 64. Those nice folks in New Haven built millions of rifles, you’ll get another chance. I promise!

Much to no one’s surprise, I missed it.
I know, I know – buy them when you see them!
Ive been caught sleeping again.
As my former Marine DI used to say,”drop down and give me 20″. I missed one a few years ago at a local gun show. A near mint M64 deluxe carbine in 25-35. Joe Ashman actually remembered the rifle when I did a S&W deal with him a while back. Instead of the M64, I bought a real nice M1894 SRC from 1913. I still have it and the memory of that beautiful M64. Big Larry
