OfflineThanks for the info guys. Gary, you got a sweetheart of a 64 there! The one i am looking at buying is a pre war, built in 1935, 32 special. Overall in excellant condition, but the receiver has some mottleing due to the heat treat process. I am gonna see it again next week and if the dimensions are correct, probably buy it. seems like the price is right. Thanks again!

OfflineI just learned about the *64 Carbine rear dovetail & sight location* versus Rifle location
I could not view the article on particular elevators used for each model.
When I look at Carbines via online auctions, it appears the sight elevator will crash into receiver face at the higher settings???
What’s the deal

The 20-inch Model 64 Rifles (carbines) use a 3C elevator versus the 1C elevator used on the 24-inch rifles. The 3C is much shorter, and it sits in a reversed direction. The sight and elevator are adjusted for maximum height, the tip of the elevator is slightly forward of the receiver frame ring.
