I hadn’t spotted this one until it sold today.  Interesting.  Desirable.  However I will confess I’d rather have a M55 in .38-55.  Not that I don’t like this rifle. Anyway, the description says the 1938 Winchester Salesman pamphlet states the .38-55 was available in the M64.  I never knew that.  What are the chances this one is original?

Steve,

Based on the pictures provide in the auction listing, I added it to the Model 64 research survey as a “most likely original” rifle.  The only way to know for sure would require a hands on detailed inspection (involving some disassembly).

 Had been watching this rifle with interest.The Model 64 Deer Rifles are my favourite Winchesters.The auction had it valued at from 8000 to 12000.It sold for the bottom end of that valuation .I wonder where it went to?Probably never know.Smile

I suspect that we will know… as soon as it gets relisted on Gunbroker or Guns International.
