I have 1895 SRC made in 1907.  The receiver has an attachment extending into the forearm. The forearm has a cut to except this attachment arm.  I have 7 other carbines that do not have this while some of the forearms are cut to except it. I have researched to find out info but to no avail. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

It sounds like you’re talking about the handguard.  These are attached by spring loaded clips.  That allows the handguard to be detached easily.  Which also accounts for why we so many ’95 carbines missing the handguards.  A minority of ’95 carbines never had a handguard.  You can spot these by the lack of slots in the forearm that would accommodate the clips.

Victorian Shooter plus others.  To me what he is describing is likely the magazine follower spring for the earlier variety.  Later ones used a coil spring and did not extend forward and into the fore end.  Does it seem to be a folded leaf spring??  Tim

Yes, it does look like a folded leaf spring. I think you answered that. Thank you very much.

Tim is obviously came up with the correct answer.  Let me ask this:  does this carbine have a handguard?
