Pictured is my 1886 50 Express (a black powder gun) made in 1894.  Following the introduction of smokeless powder, did Winchester put nickel steel barrels on 50-110 Model 1886s making it possible for them to use the hotter smokeless ammo?  DSC_0002.JPGImage EnlargerDSC_0009-1.JPGImage Enlarger

Bruce,

Yes, Winchester did use Nickel Steel barrels for the 50-110 EX rifles ordered for the WHV loads.
