Bert,

Do the available Winchester records for the Model 1885, that you researched, go as high as serial number 128,000? I understand that would be about 1918.

No, they do not.  The factory warehouse ledger records end at serial number 109999 (July 1910).  The Polishing Room serialization records end at 115308 (May 1914).

Serial number 128000 is estimated to be in the latter half of the year 1918.  Most of the serial numbers in that range were Model 87 Winder Muskets.
