A while back there was a discussion about a Model 1873 SRC with an octagon barrel. There were a lot of doubts and opinions about this carbine not being correct. Well I have seen this little carbine and it is correct and have also seen the Cody letter for it. This 1st model carbine is now for sale also. I do have the serial number for anyone that may want to check it out and will PM it to those that maybe interested.
I called and left a message and sent a email asking for pictures. His wife responded but never heard back from him. I wouldn’t deal with anyone that does not respond to your inquires. I did call Cody and it does letter as a Octagon carbine.

Walter,
I was forwarded a listing and it said $14k for it but no description beside it had a octagon barrel.

Same thing happened with me.

Al,
When the seller does not care to respond or answer questions I figure he does not really care to sell it and if you did strike a deal, its not going to go smooth. I just back away from those type of sellers. I did look at his other guns he has for sale and it seems most of them are at high retail prices.

A 20″ short, octagon barrel rifle with a special order sling ring is sometimes called an octagon barrel carbine in the Winchester warehouse records. Members can see a spectacular Model 1886 which is so described in the 2016 WACA Calendar do to be mailed in October. The gun was displayed in Denver by WACA member John Harris from Idaho.
