I have seen this barrel marking once before on an 1886 Winchester.  This barrel marking is from an 1885 high wall in .22 LR.  What could “Made To Order” mean in a .22 other than barrel twist?  Has anybody seen this in a Winchester catalog, a “Made To Order” reference for barrels?

I had a Marlin Ballard , heavy barrelled,  Scheutzen rifle with similar stamp “Made to order for the Marlin Firearms Co. by the Winchester Arms Co” . It was in the Marlin ballistics room for a long time.

Why not measure the twist to find out?

What is the serial number on this rifle?  I do not remember seeing a notation in the ledger records that matches the barrel marking, but may have missed it.

So sorry that there’s no serial number from that receiver as this is just a loose barrel I found on GB.
