Well Rick it was done. Zane Grey even had his name gold inlayed on the receiver sight.

Though I really like 21s, it seems an odd choice for a short-range cartridge, when an ordinary tang sight would have been more than adequate, without covering the engraving. A rich man’s toy both when it was ordered, & now even more so.
For sure Clarence. And I’m with you, I like Lyman 21’s also…especially when they letter.

Is it just me. I can’t imagine ordering a new rifle & paying to have it factory engraved & also order a Lyman receiver sight on it.
I think the legitimacy here is how the engraving is laid out. As Merz points out, the game scene was usually not placed on the loading port side. It seems obvious to me this carbine was ordered with the Lyman site factory installed, with the engraving in mind. It is interesting how much of the engraving is covered by the sight. I do wish he showed a photo of the other side of the receiver.
Let me add, I wouldn’t mind owning this carbine. Not one bit.
