Madis shows several 1873 carbines with barrels shorter than the usual 20″, but the text is vague as to whether there were any with barrels longer than that.

Some made with 23″ (IIRC) to accommodate a saber style bayonet.

A extra length carbine is quite rare. Here is a factory engraved 26″ carbine.

Thanks for the information. I’m not surprised there were extra length carbines. It seems Winchester in its heyday would provide the customer whatever he wished. I do think that example which sold at RIA is a rather handsome configuration, although the ornamentation may have been a bit much.
