I loaded up 7.0 grains of Lil Gun, Starline brass, Federal Match primers, and 100 grain heads. First 5 shots actually hit paper at 50 yards. Not a tight group but it was a fresh clean bore. After that she started to really tighten up. At 100 yards it grouped a little over 3 inches. I have no reference since this is my first time shooting an 1873.

Brian,
That is a very acceptable result. I am particularly interested in fact that you used Hodgdon Lil’Gun powder. I have been using it exclusively to reload for my 22 K-Hornet (and standard 22 Hornet) rifles, and recently loaded a batch of 25-20 Single Shot cartridges with it.

Well since I didn’t have many good powders for this caliber I turned to Facebook. I found 2 lbs of it local. Load calls for 7.0-7.5 grains.
