Bert –

In the Highwall 20 gauge, do you have #113711 in your survey?

By the way, I love that special order 20 gauge with the fancy rib and solid rib barrel.  Someone who marched to the beat of a different drummer ordered that one.

Steve,

I do not have it.  Based on the guns that I have in that same serial number range I will assume that it is a Solid frame gun with a Full choke ?

Yes, it is – solid frame, 26 inch full choke barrel.  It’s from an old Larry Orr gun catalog (March, 2003).

Of further interest, in his April, 2008 catalog, he lists two 20 gauges.  Most unfortunately, at that point he was not listing full serial numbers.  He lists a High Wall, 113,xxx takedown with a 26 inch full barrel.  Of greater interest, he lists low wall shotgun, #114,xxx takedown with a 26 inch full barrel.

Steve,

I have documented (58) high-wall 20-ga shotguns in the 114000 – 114855 serial number range… no low-walls.  Of further interest, most of the other Single Shots I have found in the 114000 – 114999 serial number range are 2nd variation high-wall Winder Muskets.  I suspect that Larry made a mistake in his description of the Take Down shotgun in the 114xxx range.

Bert – after availing myself of some education yesterday, I certainly agree a mistake was also the most likely explanation for his low-wall designation.
