By Rock Island. August, 2025. Looks like the belt filled with .45-70 cartridges go with it. I wonder if those are the same cartridges that I saw sitting in those belt looks while watching on black and white TV so many decades ago?

Darn famous rifle! I’ll bet Michael has it recorded in his survery.

Thanks for the walk down memory lane. I remember seeing the one at the Autry Museum. It sure was beat to hell and back.

Just one reason this auction will be fun to attend.

If those were the same brass cartridges they would be covered in verdigris, I doubt anybody would bother to clean them up periodically.
Automotive paste wax helps keep that away for years at a time. Old cop who used to carry spare ammo in loops (when cops carried revolvers before speed loaders were invented) told me about that trick.

Steve,
Thanks for the post! Very enjoyable!
What a refreshing thing to come back to from Vacation, for me!
Steven,
The Renaissance Wax works well on the cartridges, as it seals out the oxidation.
Big Larry,
That Ren.Wax does have a nice smell to it. Unlike other products!
