With the recent conversation about .33’s currently on the market, I thought this is an interesting one. Not a collector given the wood is not original. However, it is an attractive piece. I found the added safety at the half-cock was interesting. It looks quite professional.
How high will it go?

It’s very interesting & the work of highly skilled metalsmith. I very much appreciate this kind of custom work, except in this case the “improvement” is really so unnecessary that it detracts from my liking for it. Makes me wonder if it was owned by a gunsmith who just wanted to show off his ingenuity & file-work. Filing the mortise in the tang for it to slide was no easy job either.
But knowing very well the utter LACK of appreciation most collectors have for custom work, I too am surprised bidding has reached this level. And in an unpopular caliber, too!

I too, was impressed with the quality (and ingenuity) of the work. I see it sold last night for $3181. I’m sure that surprises many here. And of course, add in sales tax and shipping and we are getting darn close to $3500. Probably a bit over if you have to tack on a transfer fee.

Guess some bidders out there never learned what the half-cock safety is for. This safety would be more useful if it worked on full-cock, in the situation where just at the point of firing, the target moved, but you might be able to make the shot in a few more seconds.
