Yes, it is interesting–esp. the 2 errors in the factory records. But he’s wrong about the introduction of .30 US–1892, not 1894.
And his silly comment about lack of up to date information on new cartridges & other firearms developments reflects a PROFOUND ignorance of the shooting world at that time. “Printed journals didn’t exist”? What an idiot. A multitude of monthly & weekly periodicals kept shooters well informed about new products not only already on the market, but in development.

It is just one of many Model 1885 rifles that were returned by E.C. Meachum, and rebarreled by Winchester in 30 U.S. There are number of them in the 2300 serial range, and the earliest that was rebarreled to 30 U.S was in October of 1894. This rifle was not returned to Meachum. Instead, it was resold to a different buyer.
The warehouse ledger record shows that it was originally a Sharps 2-7/8 cartridge.
