I would assume its the engraver marks but as to who. If you show the engraving it might help to identify the engraver.

Otherwise send some good photos to Pauline and she might be able to recognize the engraver is its a mainstream engraver.

Pauline is fairly sharp when it comes to engraving so if she can’t ID it I don’t know who to try next. There were a lot of engravers around in that time period. The sign mark is not very clear to try to make out what it is. If you decipher the mark or initials you might have a chance.

The new picture shows thats its definitely cut not stamped. It almost looks fresh cut.
