I was wondering how the Reno Show was this past weekend?
How was attendance?
Lot’s of nice Winchesters?
Were there Specific pieces that stood out among others?
How were prices?

I guess they’re still resting up, Kevin. I didn’t go, wallet still recovering from Cody last month. Plan on making a show as soon as you can. It’s pretty awesome to put faces with names, meet new people and see some very nice guns.

I just got back from Reno yesterday. There were some fantastic Winchesters for sale in every model including 1866s, 1873s, 1886s, 1892s, 1894s, and all sorts of 22 calibers and more. There were several high end ones in the five figure dollar range, but there were also many good quality solid guns available for less. If anyone was looking for a real nice Model 92 carbine in 44-40, there must have been at least a half dozen for sale from good to excellent condition. I saw a beautiful 1892 trapper which still had most of its original blue finish. I think another dealer bought it the last day of the show as the show was closing. There was a first year 1892 sporting rifle with octagon barrel in excellent condition in 44-40. It was one of the best first year 1892 rifles I’ve seen. I would have purchased it had I not already spent my money on other things.
I did pick up a very nice 1942 made Model 94 carbine used by the Pacific Coast Militia Rangers. Bert Hartman was kind enough to provide me with detailed issue information on the carbine including the PCMR Company number, Regiment number, and the individual Ranger’s name to whom the gun was issued. I don’t think I’ve ever had that kind of detailed information on any firearm.
There will be another show there in November with many of the Winchester Collectors present. That show usually has even more Winchesters than the August show.

Yep, can be tough hitting two shows in two months.

Thanks Tom for the thorough report. I’m looking forward to November.

Fact: Reno has become notorious for devouring my funds. I remember thinking 10 years ago that I would never pay a couple thousand (or more) for an old Winchester but I eventually caught the bug.
My observations: There seemed to be as many nice rifles/carbines there last March and this month as during the Winchester show last November. Prices also look steady (peaked?) which I take as good news. I too look forward to November.
