I keep my rifle collection in safes in a humidity controlled room. That hasn’t and hopefully won’t be a problem. But I see collection guns offered as NIB but also see boxes and paperwork that are clearly damaged. Any suggestions on how to store these items without them severely deteriorating over time? I can’t store the boxes in the humidity stored rooms. What about in plastic sleeves with dessicant packs? Any other suggestions. Thanks

I suppose that would work, but what I’m sure works is storage in some sort of closed container heated by one or more Golden Rods; mine have lasted 40 yrs & counting. A foot-locker, a large plastic garbage can with a tight lid, whatever will fit into the storage space available.
What probably damages the boxes most is when the guns are stored in them and you are moving them around and opening them up all the time to look and wipe them down. Storing the guns in a sock in a safe is best and keep the boxes stacked in a closet that no one else goes into.
