Fellows: Check these out!top is a 45 Long Colt made by Miroku and imported. Next is a Winchester Saddle Ring Carbine in 44/40. Made in 1903.. still in great shape. Bright bore. I killed a Deer with it two years ago. Next down is a beautiful case colored Octogon  barreled 45 Long Colt made by Armi San Marco’s, next down is special grade Case Colored octogon barreled 44 Magnum. Made by Miroku and imported by Browning. Last but not least is a beautifully engraved 45 Long Colt imported by Winchester and made under license to Miroku of Japan. Some really nice guns here.IMG_0015.jpegIMG_0016.jpegIMG_0017.jpegIMG_0018.jpegIMG_0019.jpegIMG_0020.jpegIMG_0021.jpeg

Thank you for posting these.

I think it’s neat you took a deer with your 1903 SRC.  I hate to be the bearer of bad news—and perhaps you are aware of this already, but it’s been reblued and the wood was heavily sanded prior to refinishing.

You are not telling me anything I don’t know. The stock has NOT been heavily sanded. I bought it to shoot. The barrel is pristine. It shoots POA. The never was any rust or pitting anywhere. I would much rather have this then an original beat up piece of crap, that some cherish for their “Originallity” I like nice finished guns. My safe is full of them. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder!

Thanks: I am gun poor. I have lots that are not Winchesters. I have a beautiful Savage 99 in 308 that looks like it just came from the factory. Not a mark on it anywhere. I have killed deer with it in the past. It has a Gold trigger and a Leopold 3x 9. Some beautiful Marlins too! I have lots of bolt actions also. I even have a bolt action in 45/70. I have a one of a kind Model 70, high relief engraved with a carved stock. It was made in 1957. I also have a large collection of Pistols and revolvers. Over 50 of them. Many Colt SAA’s, Beretta’s,etc.  guns everywhere. I have been truly blessed. Many say I am nuts for still buying them. I bought six last week. A Winchester Model 1892 short rifle in 25/20. A Three screw Ruger Blackhawk in 30 carbine. Two Remington 742’s, one in 243 and one in 30/06. Two K 98 Mausers. One in 45/70 and a Hightower custom in 7 mm Mag. I’ll get some of them tomorrow. I don’t know where I am going to put them yet. My kids think I am nuts? I am 91 years old. I do this when I am not fishing or hunting. The fish are biting. The river is full of Stripers. The ocean is full of Salmon, Halibut and Tuna. The Tuna are Close in. Everyone is limiting out. I have my limits the last two times I fished. I am going again tomorrow.  Life is good! Cheers!

Nice collection.  Can I get the SN and some detail images of the upper tang and the barrel address on the 1903 SRC so that I can add it into my research survey?

I just checked the Winchester letter. It is my 1873 that is 1903. The model 92 serial number is 846400, it puts it at 1916. The upper tang says Model 1892 over -Winchester-,under Winchester it says Trade mark US Patent Office & FGN.  I think.  My eyes are not so good. I hope this helps you.

Thanks for taking a look.  Any chance that it has a similar looking stamp on the left side of the receiver?

That rifle has LOTS of miles on it!!  It was part of a purchase of identical SRC’s that were shipped to Argentina probably in 1918.  So far, I have cataloged 102 of them.  These rifle were then exported out of Argentina during the early 1970’s as best I can determine.  A bunch ended up in Germany and the German proof stamps do have a year code associated with them.  I assume the ones that made it to the US did so in the time time span.  Is there also a “Century Arms/ St Albans Vermont” stamp located on the lower tang where it comes in contact with the lever?  The stamp is sometimes called the “Pine Tree” and was applied after the rifle had been refinished and prior to export by FMAP: Fabrica Militar de Armes Portailes (Factory of Military Small Arms) in the city of Rosaria, Povince of Santa Fe, Argentina.

There is some writing on the bottom, but it is to small for me to see. The barrel on this gun looks new,Great Land and Grooves. Bright and shiny. It obviously was not shot a lot from the looks of the barrel. They also refinished it long be for any rust or pitting could accrue as it as smooth as a baby’s butt! I am lucky to have it. It is light. I can carry it all day!
