All,

A friend was helping clean up his parent’s basement in PA and came across this…. Seems to be an 1894 TD in .32-40

Can anyone lend a hand into the actual variant? Seems like most had 26″ barrels and straight stocks. This must be either an uncatalogued version or cobbled together from parts.

Pretty cool old rifle!

We appreciate any insights you might have.

Best,

Christian

Looks like an 1896 vintage deluxe (catalogued as “Fancy”) takedown 1/2 mag rifle.

What length is the barrel? It’s possible it was cut at some point in its life. A Cody Museum letter would tell you how it left the warehouse back in ’96.

The sling swivels were added later, otherwise looks like a nice find.

My first thought was – Why don’t I run into this kind of thing in someone’s basement? Hmmm….

 Yeah—what he said!
That’s a wonderful old 1894 and I would have been thrilled to find it.

Looks like a wonderful rifle to me.   And quite a bonus that it is circa 1896.

Absolutely gorgeous. I’ve found treasures like that in peoples basements… but they never seem to be willing to sell them!
