Hello everybody,

I have a problem with model 1894 takedown: can anybody tell me, how is the front piece of takedown joint attached to the barrel around the chamber? I mean, is that piece of steel threaded to the barrel, or this there some kind of heat joint (you know, heated metal part/cold metal part arrangement) or what? And, is it possible to get that part off the barrel? (please don´t ask why…) I thought there might be a reverse thread? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If it’s a true takedown, then the TD lug is simply screwed in place, normal right hand threads

Yes, it is normal 1894  takedown rifle. Could`nt get the extension part off, so I figured there`s some special trick…so it is only very tightly attached to barrel around the chamber. Thanks alot again!

I guess I don’t understand the question…are u trying to remove the part of the take down assembly that is attached to the barrel when the gun is apart? If so, I would imagine it is threaded onto the barrel like a normal barrel would be screwed into the front of the receiver.

Yes, you got it right, Peter. I meant the takedown extension part which is assembled to barrel. And yes, it was normally threaded and already taken off now. Thanks to Mike!

The Takedown Extension is screwed onto the barrel and has 3 headless screws which are used to adjust the tightness between the forearm assembly and the receiver.

The photo is for another model but gives you the idea:
