Daniel,

It is not altered just a bit on the low condition side.  should make for a fine shooting rifle but will not appreciate in value to a great extent.

Daniel,

The rifle was actually manufactured during 1937.

Yeah I looked it up when I first looked at and it saw that it was made in 1937. Does it look like the stock has been refinished?

Daniel,

The stock does not look refinished to me.  It matches the fore end perfectly.

What do you think about how it’s priced and what do you think it’s value is?

Daniel,

I think that the $600 BIN price would be top dollar for my wallet because of the condition.  But it sounds like the bore is in fin shape and the seller does have a three day inspection period.  I do question the originality of the front sight hood since it appears to have no wear on it at all/  These are typically lost or worn do to usage going in and out of gun cases and being leaned against doors, walls, trees, and hunting blinds.

Michael,

Just a note on hoods–

I agree they are easily/readily worn.  I do have one that is as pristine as the day I purchased my first 1894 in 1969.  (Removed it that day.  Sold the rifle in ’73.  The hood is still in a box of parts!)

I’m guessing you purchased it?  If so, let us know how it shoots! Ron

Technically, the glass is always full; half liquid, half air....

I wish I could have. Right when I was going to purchase it someone else bought it.

As they say, you snooze, you lose. That rifle may have been a transitional.   Big Larry
