I’m sure this has been asked a lot but whats the high serial for a first model receiver? I found serial number 4912 today but its not a first model. Gun is a 38-55 and still has a solid 60% + finish but he wants $4500. If it would have been a first model I would have jumped but….

Mike,

Serial 7471 is the highest confirmed 1st Model serial number.  What was the configuration of the gun you looked at?  $4500 is not a bad price for a solid 60%+ antique Model 1894 in 38-55.

Mike,

Thanks for the updates… I have entered it into my research survey as a standard 2nd variation Sporting Rifle.
