You want to contact Pauline Muerrle At paulinemuerrle.com. She was a Winchester engraver and can give you a idea who did the engraving with good clear closeups.

For $5 the engraving is fairly plain, I would of expected a more elaborate engraving.

Hello, From The Twilight Zone, It’s overcast here, temp 71 degrees, cool with rain showers. I was going Trout Fishing but the weather has different plans for me. So I elected to respond to this Topic. 2:20pm Zone Time
Well, Accumulator.
Here is my take on your Model 1886 Engraved Rifle:
It appears that the rifle has seen considerable use, Case Colored Frame that has a slight remnant of color on the bottom of the loading port spring cover, the wear of the forend wood in picture #1, plus the lack of definition in the engraving.
It appears to me that it is a Special order Model 1886 with Factory Engraving,
Of the Style #10 with a Vignette of Style #7,
Looking at the Border Scroll of the Engraving, it is in the style of John Ulrich,
Taken from the Winchester Engraving Book, Chapter V, Signed Arms by John Ulrich, pages 168, 169 pictures,
The Vignette was taken from the Winchester Engraving Book, Chapter VII, Winchester’s Highly Finished Arms, page 231. (the deer were substituted for the moose) The Vignette on your Model 1886 has the same fancy border within the circle of the Vignette.
The Deer within the Vignette don’t appear to be stick figures to me at all. They do lack definition, because of wear, but you can plainly see they are not stick figures and appear to be of character, (#5 on page 231) of the time frame your Model 1886 was produced.
The time frame that your Model 1886 was manufactured, seems to be the normal coverage of Style #10 with a Vignette of #7 with what I would say was a good amount of coverage for $5.00, but I am guessing it cost $6.25.
Now for the disclaimer:
I am Not a Specialist on Winchester Engraving that was available on Order from the Factory.
I can only judge from what I have read and visually seen in the Winchester Engraving Book.
I can only assume from your posted pictures, my views of your Engraved Model 1886.
I wrote this response to your question about your Winchester Model 1886, being John Ulrich Engraved.
With hopes that Pauline Muerrle will read this and respond also. I would like to know her opinion and how far I was off if any.
I wish also that Pauline would come back to this form and be a regular contributor to answer questions that are asked and her excellent points of view on a Winchester Subject. I enjoyed her comments.
So, my allotted time of 2hrs 30mins has run out.
I will be awaiting further comments about this subject and enjoy reading them.

Lol , well , ” no doubt ” or others , always leaves doubting Thomas’s the opening of ” possible ” maybe , or that and a $1.70 gets u a cup of coffee. Now if ? And when , she comes off the wall , those nay Sayers can argue with Pauline . I appreciate all the help and motivation to Persue this as far as I can to a conclusion . Cheers
