Don did offer some amazing guns over the years and I always enjoyed haggling and trading with him. I was lucky enough to acquire a few from him and they are some of the nicest in my collection. They weren’t cheap by any means, but since Don loved to trade, it did soften the blow a bit. He always stood by his word and if you were unhappy, he was always willing to work with you and make it right. All are in the letterable range, except for the model 1894 in last 3 photos which happens to be the highest condition model 1894 in my collection–serial number 376213 chambered in 25-35 WCF.Don
Don – nice guns – thanks for sharing – when I was collecting I never owned a flatside – was on my list but just never found the right one. That light 94 sure is nice condition.

At the 1922 show at Cody I bought an 1892 Winchester 32-20 takedown from a lady who said her husband was ill. It seems like she was toward middle center of the rear. Is it possible it was a Don Grove gun and if it is does that have any significance? Don
There’s a few guys here that might have been at the 1922 show… but not many

There’s still a photo of Don and Jan on their website. You can check it out to see if they look familiar to you.

Thanks Burt. That 1894 deluxe lightweight rifle is one of my favorites. 1895 flatsides with condition are pretty elusive. The bore is surprisingly excellent being a black powder cartridge.

Don,
You got some beautiful Winchesters. Don did have some nice ones.
Al
Thanks Al. Nice Winchesters seem to be pretty elusive here in the Pacific NW and even more so now that Don is gone. All the good/big gun shows pretty much fell victim to liberal politics and gun haters. Someday I hope to make it to the Cody show. That and move to a red state.
