Hi,

I have a Winchester 1892 32 WCF with an octagon barrel serial number 400521. Would you please give me a date of manufacture and any other information about the rifle?

Thanks,

Jim

Jim,

Your Model 1892 Sporting Rifle was manufactured in September 1907.  Based on what I am seeing in the pictures, it was refinished at some time in its past.

Hello Jim,

For some reason all of the bluing has been removed from the magazine tube.  Is there a small groove cut into the bottom flat of the barrel at the muzzle?  Your rifle is in the transition range of when the magazine end cap design was changed from ones with a tab that fit into the slot to a design that was fully round.

The front sight is not original and the rear sight elevator is also not original.

Hey TwoBit,

I’ve packed the rifle away. I’ll get back at it in a few months.

Thanks,

Jim

I have a Winchester 1892 32 WCF also, serial number 824480.  Would you know when it was manufactured?  My grandfather used it as a deer gun in northern ontario.

Your Model 1892 was manufactured in the year 1917.

Thank you for the information Bert.  Trying without success to attach a picture of it, as was wondering the value.
