Hi guys,

I got around to finally getting just about all of my rifles onto shelving in the gun closet.  I was photographing a few for sale on GB and thought I REALLY should document all of them and share a few from time to time.  So until I find a few days where I can get serious with the camera and shoot the rest  I thought I would grab my phone and at least take a few images of this gem.  I have had it for about 8 years now.  SN 261408  DOM 1905

Michael:

I do love the crescent butt, pistol grip, “H” checkered octagon barrel variant.  Beautiful gun and tough to find in any condition!

There is a “rather funny” story associated with the first time I tried to “show it off.”   I purchased the rifle fro ma dealer here in Houston during lunch and drove back to my building and parked on the lower level of the parking garage as usual.  One of the other guys in the office was a gun enthusiast so I was telling him about my latest purchase and he wanted to see it.  So we went don to the dar around 1:30 or so.  I open the trunk and pull it out of the case and we are admiring it when a lady walks past at the end of the row of cars.  She had looked out way and I remember thinking she is probably a bit uneasy about seeing us.  We put the rifle back into the trunk and go up to the office.  About 15 minutes later I get a call from the security desk requesting my presence down in the garage at my car.  Oh shit!  I take the elevator down and here are two Houston PD cruisers, the Israeli security guys from the consulate in the building and 2 guys from the State department!!!!  Hey.  Hi guys!   Want to see a cool old Winchester????EmbarassedEmbarassedEmbarassedEmbarassed  So with a little bit of explaining and everybody getting to look the rifle over I promised not to ever do that again.  So be careful when you want to show off the goods guys.  You just never know.

Michael,

Very nice rifle.  The wood is beautiful.  It’s always a treat to see these.
