Are you aware of the fact that you have at least two bogus (faked) Winchesters listed on your website? I sent Eric and email to that effect.

Now I have to look at them all to see if I can spot them.

This has been going on for years with that auction house. I have sent back several guns that were described as “all original” that were not that way at all. He has always taken them back though. He knows exactly what is going on, but it’s a money thing, and I doubt anything we, or anyone else says will change their MO. There is a huge % of folks out there that don’t know the difference, so he keeps selling them and making lots of money. They do have some honest guns in their auctions, but throughout there are the fakes.

I have only bought 1 gun from Wards. I thought that they just started selling guns? If this has been going on for some time I was not aware. I have bought a lot of non gun items from them. Never had a problem and the shotgun I recently bought was better than described. But like I have said many times I don’t buy guns that I haven’t actually picked up except for the 1 shotgun I bought from them in the last auction.
To me, WCA a prestigious Website, participation a happy privilege. I greatly appreciate the present format. I’m against anything beyond the inevitable, de facto bit of commercialism such as members coming with relevant questions/comments linked to products ‘on market’. Eg, valuation matters typical.
The format & message as occurs this Thread, to me not belonging here. First of all, commercial enterprise, exploiting a handy free marketing medium. Super “target audience” potential.
Second, such appearance hazarding the ‘inference’ of WPA locale as WPA endorsement.
Third, the ‘slippery slope’ reflected here today; tomorrow Website’s awash with such ready made free targeting.
While likely advertising integrated Websites, ever increasing likelihood in our future across the Internet, my knee-jerk reaction here admitted. Nostalgia and self-interest in keeping a fine service and entertainment Site in current format!
Just my own perhaps selfish take

John, I think this thread is a reminder that this is a public forum and that posts may be read by almost anyone, including registered (and unregistered) guests. At the moment, guests outnumber members 15 to one, on this page 4 to one. I’ve never done business with the OP but I applaud an aggressive sales attitude. I hope they continue to treat buyers fairly but hope they become more adept at spotting fakes.

Well said, Mike.

iskra…I have read this post of yours a number of times and still do not understand what you are talking about or what you are suggesting. Are you suggesting this forum NOT call out fake guns and the sellers who peddle them? Please explain this in English that I can understand. Thank you. Peter

And Mike…I don’t understand what you mean by your first two sentences here. I don’t care if this is a public forum or not, and I don’t care who reads it. It has been pointed out on this thread and others that the seller sells guns that have been altered, and/or refinished and is calling them “all original”. Even after someone like Bert has pointed this out to him, he continues on, not posting any changes in the description or removing the item. In the past, I have sent back several of these type of guns to him, only to see them in the next auction. If you want to applaud his “aggressive sales attitude” you are free to do that, but I surely don’t! Peter

I was referring to the original post of this thread, Peter. As I mentioned above I haven’t done business with them. My first two sentences addressed John’s comments.
