How much do yall think a gun could be carried before wear is seen. I have an 80% 94 src I use. So far nothing noticeable. So how much use did it take to turn so many receivers silver.

Rex,

It would ordinarily take many years of regular use and carry in the field and brush.

It would depend on era of manufacture, Composite of metal used in receiver, and probably more important , the acid level on the hands of the people carrying it, and oiling after the days hunt

Wear a Cotton glove and it will take a very long time. My dad always wore a pair of cheap brown jersey gloves with the fingers cut off at the first knuckle when he carried one of his nicer Winchesters in the field and I see no indication of sweat rust or real wear to the bluing.

I think a big key is to keep the salty sweat off the finish

Yes. Fabric gloves. Do not use leather gloves, especially when they get damp or wet.
