Here’s a relatively new product that provides its own applicators.
Thanks, Clarence. I’ve just run out of their CP (Collector oil) and I’ll likely replace it with this product. Nice knife!

Nothing used to make me cringe like, at the end of a show, seeing dealers whip out the “oily rags” they’d been using for who knows how many yrs, usually thrown carelessly around like a mechanic’s shop rag, probably holding as much dirt as oil. I generally use a large cleaning patch once for wiping, then put it in a plastic bag to use later for bore cleaning. Hoping that “5 year” protection claim is valid, I’m going to order some too.

I use another product in a bit larger package, much like sanitizing wipes. I’m trying to downsize my show gear and I like the oil in the BreakFree product as well as the size. They need to offer a larger size as well to put near the safe(s).

Do the wipes above, or yours Mike, cover the entire gun or only the metal surfaces?
Jeremy-
I use BreakFree CLP and CO on the entire gun but I think that may not be a good idea on some of the more delicate oil finishes. I don’t apply heavily in any case, just enough to remove dust, grime and fingerprints and leave a light film. I used to use a product that came in a brown glass jar with a little patch of chamois leather. I used it for long term (off season) storage of hunting rifles. It eventually ran out and I wasn’t able to find it so I started using CLP

I had exactly that same product, & used it for yrs! Beginning in the ’60s, I think. When the pad became dry, I refreshed it with Hoppe’s #9. After about a hundred moves, it vanished. (Along with the bottle of liquid mercury I used for lead removal.)
Don’t get why it would be advisable to apply any rust protection product to stocks.
