I’ve seen a picture of the guy in his head towel and he looks to be holding a Winchester. I don’t know if that photo comes from the incident or if it’s a previous photo of him. Does anyone know any more about the weapon(s) used and the one in the photo? Just curious.
I started a topic in the General Discussion forum about this just a hour or so ago. I heard on the new that he used a Winchester lever action and too I saw that photo but couldn’t determine if it was a Winchester.

I thought the lever action photo in the media was a file photo from somewhere. Reports here in Canada have said he had a side by side shotgun and a dreaded “assault rifle”. Seems to be a lot of confusion over the matter.
I read a news item on his rifle that he actually used. It was a Winchester 30-30. The comments by the RCMP was that it was an archaic, ‘slow-loading’ rifle, that only held 7 rounds, and that you had to load one round at a time, not the type one would want to use to kill a lot of people. I am relieved to hear this opinion, even though he badly underestimates what an experienced person can do with a lever gun. It will keep the gun control people thinking these sorts of firearms are fairly benign.
