I think I’m going to sell my 1886 rifle and I’m hoping for input on where to sell it that will get the most eyes on it and hopefully bring the most return. I’m not really in a hurry to sell it but age and health issues are gaining ground and although I hopefully have many more years in me my wife and more unfortunately my children have no interest in antique firearms.
I would try one of the smaller auction houses as they have negotiable commissions, even as low as 0%. Cowans, Amoskeag, Poulin, etc. Rick Island Auction hammers on the high side but you will probably net less as their 17.5% and up commission tends to be non negotiable.
I just sent a really nice 1886 and 3 Colts to Cowans and they did offer me 0% and they have serious bidders there, especially in the October auction, which is where these will be featured.
Amoskeag will negotiate, as will Poulin and possibly Morphy’s.
