Sold for $14,000.  I really love pistol grip deluxe M1895’s and this one had a lot of appeal to me.  Interesting letter.  I’ll bet Mark Douglas had his eye on this one – it would have fit in well with that group of deluxe 95’s he has.

I wonder if the 1″ note is referencing a sling, or position of the eye. Not to question Jesi’s interpretation but its written right after the screw eyes in the ledger. Maybe the fact that it’s a barrel mounted sling eye? The barrel length, if noted, is usually more toward the beginning of the notes in the ledger, not at the end of the line on the ones I’ve looked at. I think it would make more sense if the letter entries were in the same order as the ledger.

Probably meant barrel targeted for 1” group?

Unless the outside measurement is 1” somewhere?

Sincerely,

Maverick

Hi Steve, I did have my eye on this one.  I was hoping that since it had a reblued barrel and a second model magazine that it might sell at a reasonable price and make it worth finding the correct magazine for it.  Sadly, I was mistaken.  I’m still scratching my head about the hammer price on that one.Confused  Mark

Mark –

I found it a very attractive rifle.  For me, the detractions you mention are significant.  The hammer price might be part of a developing theme many of us have been noticing – more and more buyers are not dissuaded by departures from original condition Confused
