Evening folks, is anyone able to tell me anything about this stamp on the side of a 1873 breech block? Seen it before on others but have no idea what it tells us, if anything.. thanks

As far as I’ve learned its a inspectors mark.

I think so, too.  Have had several 1873 models that have had this marking.   However, the marking is different, depending on the serial number range.

My 1888 made 1873 has a 5 pointed star stamped in the exact same position on the bolt. I have seen it once on another ’73 bolt.
