Other than high condition, it’s just a plain-Jane 1894 carbine in the most common caliber. It’s not even an “antique” as it claims to be. Wondering why the such high bid price with 3 days still remaining on the auction. Am I missing something?

Nice looking carbine! Didn’t we have another thread recently about a gun offered by this seller?

I agree, nothing very special except the ultra fine condition for a 118 year old Winchester. It looks legit to me and not too surprising that may draw the attention from those who collect extremely fine condition Winchesters in spite of it being a common example.

Mike,The answer to your question is YES! Take a look at other auctions. Every one of his auctions has numerous bids. I just don’t think that’s possible. Especially this particular Winchester. Besides picking out the problems with the gun, what about the letter. His auctions remind me of the auction sight dad’s guns where every gun was bid on by several bidders. Sure looks like some things not right here, to me. Buyer beware. If it looks to good to be true it usually is!

Tony N… putting this seller in the same class as “Dads Guns” is a pretty serious accusation in my opinion. Just because he buys guns at big auctions and sells on GB doesn’t mean he is a crook, it means he is a smart business man. He also doesn’t re-do/refinish guns and put them in fake boxes. He might not know all there is to know about all the guns he sells, but I don’t think he is a liar and a cheat by any means. He might be a bit off with some of his facts, but don’t think he does it intentionally. He has numerous people bidding on his products because he has a good product and knows how to present it. I think we need to be very careful what we say on this forum about sellers etc. We do have a reputation to preserve here and slap talking without real proof of any wrong doing will NOT help us. Peter
