This Thread began as my simple Post response within Begger’s assistance request Thread concerning updating/amending “The Rule Book”. I’m not the expert to provide much if any assistance.  But ‘Rule’s Book Rocks’ 🙂  I certainly do applaud his endeavor and I’d be happy to invest in any amendment/supplement as available.

Yet more and at this juncture initiating new Thread…  Perhaps here & now, the opportune time for a wider suggestion I’ve contemplated for some time.  That as the WACA almost surely best positioned to claim leadership; take the helm in a new Model 70 sub-Forum…

Quite frankly, In conjunction with Begger’s efforts, I’d also like to see a chapter on the 1991 and post era vintage Winchester Model 70 rifles, perhaps to the end of the USRAC era in 2006.  But considerably wider, to suggest perhaps the WACA assert its considerable Winchester predominance & NPO 503(c) “Educational” position/function status.  Such, to formally request of FN Browning/Utah (or whom/wherever appropriate) an accurate serial number to production year listing for USRAC “CRF revival” era.  Such of course, presumably “Proprietary” information, but I wonder if FN would wish to be faced with formal WACA request denial. That set against a relatively ongoing customer base… “Inquiring Winchester owners wanting to know”.  A lot of ‘new era’ Winchester Model 70 rifles/owners out there, a fact of life. Second tack, a FOIA request to ATF for the same purpose and surely them to hold such information.  Worst case scenario a “No” with explanation perhaps offering ‘opening’.

Just as the WACA Forum Website morphing, perhaps time to embrace many of the – pardon me – younger Win enthusiasts at least in terms of new era Model 70. A Winchester centerpiece which in CRF remains – my impression, a not too distant cousin to the Pre ’64 genre.  Further to suggest a separate Sub-forum for such “era distinctive” and predicting likelyhood of some re-invigoration in terms of ever increasingly important membership/participation numbers.

I suppose what I”m trying to politely suggest – and delicately/tactfully, as without earned stripes here – is that as times change, institutions need to change too.  I do appreciate the relative purity and expertise to be found here. Admitting that “unique” and, yes, cherished to me.  But even the old man I am at 80 years, I do appreciate change and needing to move with the times.  (Having my very own big strapping sixteen year old son at my age definitely mandating such… “Oh my!” 🙂 )

Just spring-boarding from Begger’s emphasis, appearing to offer ‘a moment’ seeming opportune time for such suggestion.  I do believe if WACA could ‘front’ the Forum name as desiring wider Collector’s Association inclusion, it would be in the wider good for the Association. The missing factual serial number to production year listing; securing & making available a large additional credibility feather & perhaps membership magnet!

Whew!  In responses, kindly utilize stones of ‘sporting size’ and “calling of shots”!  🙂
