Ilkley the guy that did it was somewhat demented in that the process that they use to make those burnt lines.
If i am not mistaken one would secure an old microwave oven and somehow rewire it to make an arc that will wander through the wood. There would be plenty of smoke and potentially fire with free ranging stray current.
We have lost a couple of our local miscreants (tweekers) when they tried this here in town.
