A friend has acquired a Model 70 short action .223 carbine in good condition and we cannot find much information on it. It is ser.# G16787XX. Any thing including year made and relative value would be much appreciated. Thanks 021

Your friend has a U.S. Repeating Arms Company[/color:fc83b8544d] (USRACo) manufactured Model 70 versus a "WINCHESTER[/color:fc83b8544d]" Model 70.

According to the information listed by the Winchester division of the Browning Arms Company, serial number G1678700 was manufactured in the year 1984.

Thank you for the information. Do you know how many were made? It seems like an odd duck.

No, I do not know how many were made. That fact that it is not a true Winchester wanes my interest as well as most of the Model 70 collectors that I am acquainted with.
