Hi Gentlemen,
I am a newbie here on this site. I joined for the wealth of information and knowledgable people. I am mainly a model 70 collector, but I currently have the chance to purchase a Model 64 in 219 Zipper Carbine. It is the deluxe model with a rare 22" barrel, and rear sight delete option, and a bolt peep. I would rate the gun at 95%. I believe it to be all original since I know the rifles origin. Could someone with knowledge about this gun give me some idea of a fair value? I understand it is extremely rare, and seldom seen. Thanks in advance.
Are you sure that it does not have a mail order barrel? I have encountered several Model 64 219 Zipper rifles with 22-inch barrels, and none of them thus far were factory original. In addition to the rifles found with mail order barrels, I have also seen a few that were outright fakes. There is a fellow up in Montana that is very skilled at making rare (but fake) Model 64 rifles and carbines.

Bert,
Thanks for the reply. I am no expert, not even close. The gentlemen I am buying it from has sold me several rare model 70’s that are as he represented. I am familiar with the man in Montana (I believe he is pretty good at faking 70’s also). I have no reason to doubt this man to date. He is certainly of the opinion the rifle is original. Is there a tell tale sign or something I can look for to determine if the barrel is original vs. mail order?
The mail order barrels will have the (P) proof mark on them. Additionally, the 2-digit year number on the barrel will not match up with the date that the receiver was serialized.
What is the serial number on the gun you are looking at? There is a good chance that I may already have surveyed it.

Sorry for the delay Bert. I have been waiting on the serial number from the owner and additional pictures. The serial number is: 1287391
I will try and figure out how to get these pictures off my iPhone to my computer and downloaded.
The proof mark on the barrel matches the proof mark on the receiver.
