I need some estimate on value before I sell my gun to a Gun Show Dealer for to low of a price. It is a ’92 Rifle with a 20" octagon barrel, 44WCF. S/N 769XXX. From measurements & features I believe that it is an original Factory short rifle.
The forearm is 1" shorter than normal and it has the circular dovetail for the magazine tube. There is no bluing remaining except under the rear sight (have to check). the wood is all there except for a chip on the left side of the upper tang. The stocks appear to have some protective "finish" over the worn surface. The rifling is naturally rough but visible. Bore measures .422" and lands measure .430". Measurements were by a retired factory Inspector on a barrel slug.
Thanks for the replies.
Have to get a new camera and try the pictures. Might be a little while.
For those interested in dimensions:
From the muzzle to the front of the dovetail for the front sight = 3/4"
to the magazine ferrule pin = 3 3/4"
to the screw for the forearm cap = 10 3/8"
to the front of the dovetail for the rear sight = 15 1/8"
to the receiver opening = 20"
The right wing of the front sight has a slotted set screw (sight has been filed).
The rear sight looks original, it is pitted. The elevator must be a replacement.
The end of the muzzle is pitted.
