There is a Winchester 1886 for sale on Canadian forum that I wish I knew how to post a link to. It looks like a standard lightweight .45/70, serial 131xxx. The guy claims it letters with the folks at Cody with a .32 WS smokeless rear sight AND IT IS MOUNTED BACKWARDS!! Anyway it is a very rare Winchester and he is asking $6000 for it.The .32 WS was just being born when this 86 was numbered I think so the new smokeless sight must have been in big demand. I would like to see that letter.
EDIT: Ad pics changed already, sight is mounted in proper manner, price hasn’t changed.
Like you, I’d want to see the letter. Doesn’t make much sense to me why it would be ordered with that sight. I wouldn’t pay more for the gun because of the sight, even if it letters.

In the new pics the sight is mounted correctly. I was thinking he probably buggered the dovetail up driving the sight in from the wrong side. Even if a gun letters with special sights it doesn’t warrant a tripling of the price. Up here that might be a $2000 rifle if in good shape. I missed the octagon barrel the first time I looked just thought it a standard lightweight. Or maybe it is a "hex" barrel like he says, that would be a rare bird. HAHA.
